    Sword Heroes are more mobile than Hammer Lords, and their guards produce a shield that can protect both yourself and allies, but the damage they do is small compared to the other classes. Hammer Lords are much stronger and deal massive damage, but they are slow as molasses and rely heavily on teammates. They are also utterly useless on flying enemies. I would put my gem apples into a Sword Hero.
