    Think about where the light source would be. Maybe make the Dark Lord's colors slightly darker/transparent. It'll add to the "dark magic" aspect to him.

    First tip: DO NOT USE BLACK/GRAY TO SHADE It doesn't pop out as well! Try to find a darker colour similar to the colour you're shading with Also what helps me with shading is drawing a little sun in the direction of the light. Sadly, Art Academy doesn't have layers, so try to avoid making the sun's ray touch the lineart or actual drawing.
