Samus's New Suits
What do y'all think of them? I definitely wasn't keen on the new Varia suit at first but I think it grew on me. The only thing that still irks me is that visor. How does Samus see out of that?

Speaking of which, I'd like to see the Prime suit in the next "Smash Bros." game!

Her very first suit illustrations in the NES instruction booklet were cool too. She doesn't have giant shoulders and looks more like an astronaut and less like a power ranger.

I have nothing against the Other M suit design, though I can't shake off some disliking of it cause it reminds me of Other M. I feel like the Other M suit is what would happen if Apple got Chozo employees. It looks functional and kinda sleek, though not impressive.

Mechmaster, I too want the Prime suit to reappear for the next Smash. Like I said before, the new Varia suit look has grown on me but I REALLY don't want that to be a basis for Samus's new staple look; I wouldn't complain if they made the new suit one of Samus's extra skins though.

Samus' worst suit design was Other M. It was too feminine. If you know the series, like me, then you would know the original Metroid Suit disguised the gender of Samus. Until you beat the game under 3 hours or used the 'Justin Bailey' code. Even Samus' name is questional of gender identity.

You can't blame Other M for that. Her suit design got too feminine immediately after the first game. Notice how much larger her power suit's chest and hips got in Metroid II: Return of Samus. That design carried over into Super Metroid and beyond.

@Gamesake:I had forgotten about the FIRST first suit from the original. It was basically like a prototype suit! Until "Metroid II:Return of Samus", they kept that design for a couple of games.

I think my main problem with the Other M suit is that it's too thin and fragile-looking. The suits in all the other games look like they're meant to take the serious beatings they often take except for the Fusion suit. The thinness makes it look fragile and I can't look at the arm cannon as looking not-like a potato gun with how small it is.

I'm also fine with the Power suit looking feminine. Any variant of it beats the rampant fanservice devs try to put into the garb of other female video game heroes.

But...Potato guns are usually pretty huge. Like, bazooka-size.

No potato gun I've seen has been THAT big. Or perhaps I should check out more potato guns.

The good ones are usually 5 or 6 feet long and made out of 3-inch diameter plastic pipes.

I would also agree on the arm cannon design. It fits should look like a mega weapon capable of firing heavy artillery. The "Other M" cannon doesn't look as power as it looks with the Prime suit, which is still the best one.

Come to think of it, I should've compared it to a marshmallow gun. Maybe I somehow confused the two when I typed that? If so I have no idea how... Regardless, the Other M cannon is too small I think.

That's what I like about other arm cannon designs, they look like arm cannons instead of little peashooters like on "Other M".

I've always thought her gun arm looked dumb in all the 3D games. Why is it always covered with glow-in-the-dark lights? I really hope they finally ditch that style in Prime 4.

I think they went a little bit overboard with the neon green on the Varia Suit, but it's not a big deal and I got used to it. It's the Gravity Suit that kind of bugged me a little bit at times. It's not just the overabundance of neon blue, it was the design and the patterns of it. It seemed a bit odd to me.

You, Mechmaster, and I all seem to prefer the more practical-looking suits. I agree on the suit lights though. The new gravity suit's look is neat but I think the abundant lights and the more edged... edges are a bit much. I like that they tried making it something more than a palette swap of the varia suit. I just wish it didn't look so ridiculous (albeit in an admittedly cool way).

Also kinda relevant- I dislike that the gravity morph ball is half-neon blue. Also I kinda miss the Prime spider ball look but I feel like a hypocrite saying that since my complaints about the SR suits are applicable to that too.
