It's difficult, but the key here is patience and wise spending. There are only a very small amount of bosses left, so if you just want to clear the game like I did, you don't need to buy expensive gear for your allies anymore (your daily helpers should suffice). Be sure to wait for the harvests and buy your best gear wisely.

Can I beat the game with golden helmets & golden weapons only? Because those are the best items that I have and I can't afford better stuff without putting myself into a long cycle of "farming 5 apples per day" that lasts several months before I'm able to buy anything ever again. I spend apples on quests because they give me the most apples… A F2P player's life, ladies & gentleman.

You can, as I did (be sure to have both of them), but you need to be skillful (I'm a Kirby veteran) and use level 50 internet helpers. Patience is still recommended nonetheless. I also beat this game with the 5 apple tree only, it took long but there he somehow.
