Mewtwo or Meta Knight?

Trying to chose which to add to my secondaries, but can't decide who is better. (cont.)

  • On one hand, Mewtwo has a projectile, more range, and covers some hard matchups like ZSS and Sheik (might've spelled that wrong). He is also a zoner, making it easier for me to transition to Mewtwo from my othet characters.

  • On the other hand, Meta Knight has a completely different kit and playstyle, which allows me to gain an advantage as well.If the opponent expects me to zone, I can swap to MK, who plays quite differently. I also love his multiple jumps, as they really help with landing safely (something my other characters lack). He does alright against top tiers, but not as well as Mewtwo.

  • They both are enjoyable to play, I like them as characters, they both have good recoveries, and both lose to Diddy Kong.

  • Which do you think would be better given the strengths and weaknesses of each and how well they cover my other characters (Robin and Palutena)? Or maybe it's neither of these? Maybe a different character would be better? Feel free to give your thoughts, and my thanks in advance.

  • what are you looking for with this comment? if you would need a new character to play as just depends on what you like and then you should just train just like i am trying to be better with king dedede (badass penguin). if you want an amiibo to help i would say ness or little mac (even if little mac is to rare) diddy kong is OP but i just don't like to use it. but i would use WFT or kirby.

  • @armano I'm looking for a new character to play. And I know I'm probably going to get "play what feels best", so for the purposes of this question, we'll assume I like them both equally.

  • Well, me, duh. Both of these characters are like glass in comparison to weight, but Mewtwo has a good range of K.O options, and another set of solid recovery techniques. Pressure shields with neutral b, mash up plans with side-b, or start a combos with a down grab.

  • it depends on what matchups your main can not cover. alot of people say that the meta has 'figured out' mewtwo but with an unpredictable play style you're unstoppable. meta knight isnt relevant enough right now to be taken seriously. I would play mario rather than meta knight right now given there jack-of-all-trades playstyle and mario actually has range. who do you main.

  • Mewtwo is a better character, but Meta Knight is probably a better secondary becuase he can easily kill floaties with up air, up air, up air, into up-b. If you struggle against floaties with your main, then choose Meta Knight. If you're already fine against floaties, then choose Mewtwo, becuase he has an all-round less linear gameplay style.

  • @Draedon I already mentioned it above, but I guess I should clarify: My main is Robin, and my other secondary (alongside whoever I choose here) is Palutena. Combined, my matchup coverage is comfortable enough. My main struggles are very fast characters, in particular Sheik, ZSS and Diddy Kong are my 3 hardest matchups.

  • @Viscose I don't particularly struggle against floaties because Robin has a good juggle game. But I think MK has strengths besides good floaty matchups that could make him a worthy secondary. Thanks for your suggestions anyway.

  • I'd say Mewtwo does better against faster characters than MK.
