Evasion vs. Potential

To be untouchable, or to heal + have extra power when using tension arts, which one did you blades pick for their avatar? And what is your highest # of it? (Also I have 1 question for potential users, What does potential do other than help your skell while riding it? Skells don't have tension arts.)

  • What do you mean hard caps at 95%? Does that mean it's useless to have +500 evasion?

  • Hard cap at 95% means that no matter how high you stack evasion, there is always a 5% chance for an enemy to hit you.

  • That doesn't mean its completely useless of course, just that the possibility of instantly getting killed regardless of evasion exists.

  • So if I want to rely on evasion late game, I need to be able to end the my battles very quickly.

  • ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's 5%. Its a gamble no matter what

  • 5% CHANCE?!?! ....... ....... What a gamble! But, if you can buff/gear up the whole team near this rating, you'll "NEVER" lose! Still there is the "Odds" of losing, when each person can have been beaten by a quick or area-of-effect defeat... I bet a hacker (or a genius) would be would be able to show approximate odds for defeat. Still, thank's for the news!!

  • @Silvace: You'd be surprised. That 5% can easily assure a 100% casualty rating on the offchance that the enemy connects. Especially if you've dedicated all your team's armor slots to evasion up augments. Enemies such as Coronids, Xe-dom, Elivira and Hartmut can all spam a ridiculous amount of shots at once. If any of them connects, you're basically dead, so I never rely solely on evasion.

  • *continued My team survives on three things: 1. Attribute resistant armor (mainly beam and electric). 2. Group heals + evasion buffs (my avatar is team medic, so it's her primary function). 3. Team overdrive abuse to buzzsaw through the enemy's HP quickly.

  • Wow... I forgoten about those enemys. Likewise this IS a gamble. Ok, um, NEW question, Other than evasion- how effective is potential at its full use and what kind of strategy would you need?

  • Define full use. It can be used for Heavy Hits (single hit super high damage), or as a powerful stat for art to scale off (due to how potential buffs/auras work and the high art scaling of tp arts)

  • Wow! Thank you for the info, I think I'll tweak my build now! So defense is better compared to evasion I'm guessing?

  • @zer0: It's much safer, yes. A strong defense assures that if any of your team takes a hit, there's much less chance of them dying. And you can further ensure their survival by a healer with you at all times. My avatar is basically a faster, stronger version of Irina (with a 0 cooldown build), so she can spam heal the entire team and feed them TP rapidly. So we almost never die.

  • *typo: I meant, /having/ a healer with you at all times. My party has two: Xiva (my avatar) and Doug, who has Astral Horizon + Astral Heal and Purge, which allows him to act as our backup healer.

  • Sounds like a challenge! Truthfully I never done a full potential team, now I might have to rethink this on my team. Some evasive members, and a few potential tanks. This maybe a great experiment to try.

  • Defense is bad, it simply subtracts damage. If you meant resistances, which divides, then its better in most cases. Still, a 95% chance to evade attacks is nice. Its up to you
