Favorite sky levels?

I think I'm going to start a discussion series about everyone's favorite levels of various themes, and I figured I'd start with the theme I chose as my favorite in my recent discussion. Post as many of your favorites as you'd like. I'll give my top 10 below. For variety's sake, I'm limiting my list to one per franchise with the exception of Mario platformers and spinoffs.

  • I haven't actually really played any sky themed levels that I can recall aside from the ones in the NSMB series. I will say that I liked the 2nd castles of the sky worlds in NSMBW and NSMBU. Hopefully I'll be able to say more on some of the other discussions you're planning on doing.

  • You're forcing me to do my research man. A lot of the areas I listed are in the sky but don't look like it. Does that count?

@krossjosh Sounds fine to me. I'm not familiar with most of the ones you mentioned, so I'll take your word for it.

  • Skies of Arcadia is an absurdly easy way out since, well, the entire game takes place in the sky. I was doing so much thinking and research that I kinda needed a break. I want to be more specific with the Megaman Zero stages. Storm Owl Stage definitely has another name and possibly Storm Eagle Stage but those are the name of the tracks that play on them so I think it's fair game. Actually...

  • ...now that I think about it I should do the same for Sky Lagoon and Space Port. A LOT the Megaman and Megaman X tracks have ridiculously straightforward titles. Besides the Megaman and Mario stages the others don't seem sky-based inside. Even in Skies of Arcadia the only one that looks like it is The Dark Rift. Visually that's the the area I probably like the most in the RPGs I listed so far.

  • Ok...I separated the Megaman Zero games. Megaman Zero: Neo Arcadia Core Megaman Zero 2: Despite my relentless research I couldn't find a name for this stage. It involves jumping from battleships to get to the lead battleship and infiltrating it with defusing an explosive being the objective of the mission. It's even harder than it sounds amazingly enough. Megaman Zero 3. Area X-2

  • I definitely agree with City in the Sky, Sky Sanctuary, and Skytown Elysia. Here's a couple more I thought of: Airman Stage- Megaman 2 Sweet Paradise (Grape Kingdom)- DKJB Skyloft- Skyward Sword Glitzville- Paper Mario tTYD (I don't know if this really counts, but it's in the sky, and I like it) Flying Battery Zone- Sonic&Knux, Mania (this could also be considered a mechanical level though)

@CutterL I love that list! I don't know if Flying Battery Zone is technically a true sky level since the majority of it takes place inside, but it's close enough, so we'll go with it. Same goes for Glitzville. Also can't believe I forgot about those Galaxy levels.

  • I totally forgot about this. Heaven's Mount (Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate) It is a bunch of floating islands and definitely the best map in 4 Ultimate.
