MH Generations or MH Stories?
I am leaning towards stories just because I played the demo and I don't know much about generations gameplay. Can someone explain generation? Which would you recommend? I gotta go for now. I'll check up on this post later. Please help me out with this.

Honestly it doesn't matter which u start with between 4u and gen since honestly, mh has always been that way in the main games like the way gen is presented story wise. Also generations has much more gameplay enhancements and options than 4u. But ya, if u wanna play a main title mh game that has a richer story then 4u is your choice to start with. Also 4u has a higher difficulty rank than gen,

but gen is still more enjoyable IMO. But gen's expansion has the higher difficulty rank that 4u has tho. But unfortunately its expansion hasn't arrived here yet. As for which to get between the main games and stories, if u want a game that has a deeper learning curve, real time action, and much more gameplay options, then the main games are 4u (see what i did there?) XD. Otherwise if u want a-

-more casual and relaxing fun exp that's also story driven and has pkmn like gameplay, stories is the choice to go with. Also yes ik generations isn't a main title game but it still plays like one since it uses 4u gameplay engine.

Also. Unlike 4u, generations has new features like styles and hunter arts, as well as an option to play as felynes. U can look up generations styles and hunter arts online to get a better understanding of what they are and how they work. But i can tell u that hunter arts are just like the rider skills u use on stories.

I thought that 4U would be a better example because to me, 4U's story and progress through that game is much more fulfilling and paced than gen's. I got generations about a month after it released in english, and I still haven't made it to high rank since I just don't want to play it. Like I said though, try out all the demos and then make your decision, you're the one buying them after all.

@Ernst. Ya like i stated earlier, 4u IS the more in depth as far as story progression goes. But gen still has the much better gameplay IMO and is more like how the old school mh games use to be progression wise. But u still made some solid points tho ernst.

I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but get stories. If they were going to release MH xx over here I'd say get generations. The main series games are always better, but with World on the horizon get stories.

I have put in well over 1600 hours into 'Monster Hunter 4', and am thinking I am going to purchase 'Monster Hunter Stories' here. Despite all my time spent, I am not very skilled, however, I made up for it with repetition and practice.

*his birthday. @Ernest and CrazyBeast, I see where your going with gameplay. I just want to see which game has a stable online population. If I get it and lose online, that would stink. Played Mh4u demo. Pretty Fun and immersive. I feel I'm scratching the surface tho. Gen might be more complex for me, and all the better. I'll try out other weapons first tho.

@CrazyBeast By older games do you mean the first and second one? That's actually an eye opener to me, that gen is more like the older games progression-wise. Besides gen though, I guess the only two games I've played is 4U and 3U, and since I wrapped the story in 3U I only really play multi anymore. Speaking of 3U, that one's also awesome as far as story goes.

@Ethan demos are usually like that, you only get a small taste of what it's like. The actual game is basically an RPG that even once you finish it, has unlimited potential. You build your character's armor, weapons, do all the hunting to get the materials to make said armor and weapons. It's super grindy, some materials taking days, or even weeks to get, but you can imagine the reward once you

get the materials. An overall description would be, it's grindy, it's long, and it has about 2-3 games worth of gameplay in it.

@Ernest I could tell, yeah. Just wish they put some of those said gameplay elements in the demo, you know? Do you know anything about Gen and MH4U's online population? Which one is better and will last longer, that is.

Generations is newer, which stands to reason it shall last longer. Otherwise, I could not tell you, I only own 'Monster Hunter 4' and 'Monster Hunter Stories'. From the little I have heard of 'Generations' I get the suspicion that it is not quite as beloved as '4' (this is only anecdotal, however.)

@Potempkin I heard the same rep about Gen. The only thing that makes me think otherwise of the General Fanbase is that it seems to be thriving.

Gen is slightly more active, but 4U is still very active all the same. Both communities are very welcoming and kind to beginners, so doing online quests and hunts will be a great way to get advice, tips, and make a couple buddies.
