Unpopular Opinion: It's time to give up on Banjo & Kazooie joining Smash Bros.

Guys, just let go of Banjo & Kazooie ever joining Smash Bros! They're owned by Microsoft now & with Yooka-Laylee being released, they have no chances of joining. Besides, the Smash Bros. series has been doing critically & commercially successful without them. So, Nintendo doesn't need Rare anymore.

  • I'd rather have Banjo Kazooie in over Yooka Laylee.

  • Not entirely true. Remember the famous Phil Spencer quote where he said he'd be open to Banjo & Kazooie in Smash? It's not about Nintendo "needing" them, it's about making fans happy with a nostalgic duo of characters from a pair of classic N64 games. Yes, the chance of them getting in is small, but there is still a chance. Also, Yooka-Laylee has nothing to do with anything.

  • Microsoft said they're willing to let Nintendo borrow Banjo because he means so much to Nintendo fans. Never say never.

  • @Dad: What does Inb4 mean? @BCH: Yes, I'm aware Phil Spencer said that, but Banjo & Kazooie didn't even make it as Smash 4 DLC. Also, I mentioned Yooka-Laylee because it's meant as the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, so the franchise is over. With that happening, I don't think there's even a point to having Banjo & Kazooie in Smash anymore. Now, do you have any other argument points to make?

  • The fact is Banjo still has a massive fanbase, one which waits for him to come back in any way. About Yooka-Layle, many people think the chameleon and bat pale in comparison to the bear and bird. If people are still willing to talk about Banjo, that means there's still an audience who wants him.

  • @Andrew Well if it's necessary, I guess Banjo & Kazooie could have ONE chance to be in Smash Brothers, but I honestly don't see that happening any time soon. :-/

  • You're right. It's time to start campaigning for a more relevant and lofty character. Like L-Block.

  • I don't think Banjo's entirely necessary, but I don't think we need to say he has no chance of making it.

  • The BK series went downhill after Microsoft purchased Rare. Plus, Nintendo, in a way, hated working with them. I bet Miyamoto would happily dance on Rare's grave.

  • Let me make this clear. I DON'T hate Banjo & Kazooie. I understand a majority of people want them in Smash Bros. since they would have a unique moveset & fit well in the Nintendo all-star roster, but they're not cared that much anymore & Nintendo would never want a Microsoft owned property in Smash Bros.
