Anyone else would like a real life version of the Book of Mudora as described in AlttP's instruction manual? (As a collection of legends and lore. They could add Hylian folklore, old traditions and ways to translate some runes and Hylian languages [as it is used in game to translate]). This could actually build on the lore instead of reiterating or changing some stuff.

  • If Nintendo did that then it probably wouldn't be a "book of Mudora" since the Japanese version of ALttP's manual doesn't describe the Book of Mudora that way. That was made up by Nintendo of America's localization team. But yeah it would be great to get something like that.

  • I had no idea... I'd still like something like that though. And it's kind of sad since the Book of Mudora existing in a game would make it even more intriguing. Like a "That's what Link saw!" Kind of thing and would shape a slightly different perspective whenever the reader plays AlttP afterwards.

  • We kind of got that with Hyrule Historia

  • Yeah, not really. We only got some clarifications on the main storyline which turns out aren't the exact truth since there are some changes in the upcoming Encyclopedia. What I would want is tales or legends written down "by the people of Hylia". Like we have our fairy tales and legends and some knowledge about their traditions. Flesh out the Hylian culture a bit xD

  • To be fair the the upcoming encyclopedia may not be canon. It wasn't written by Nintendo (at least Hyrule Historia had Aonuma as Editing Supervisor), there's a foreword in it that says they took creative liberties with the lore, and there's content in it that directly contradicts the games.

  • But I could get behind a Hylian lore-book with little legends and stories told by the Hylians in it.
