Pichu in Smash

Pichu gets alot of hate for being a Clone & that's sad because A. he was my Main in Melee along side Link & Bowser & B. he has no reason not to be. Yeah I know he's a clone & that he hurts himself but that's what makes him unique, & if you're even remotely smart you know NOT to spam self damaging moves. He's the ONLY character from the Melee roster to make it into Smash 4

Most of his useful moves like Nair, UpAir, or Upthrow for example don't hurt itself. & plus even the moves that do hurt it only tack on like 3% - 8% damage. & it stays true to his Pokedex entry which I thought was really cool. It brings a level on Technicality to the Character

Another problem with Pichu is that it's lighter than air. One good move can send it flying and combined with the self-hurt mechanic, it basically has a giant target with flashing neon lights saying 'HIT ME' carried around at all times.

& he's despised for what ? he hurts himself ... okay and ... don't spam self damaging moves its that simple. & he's a very underrated character in Melee with the strongest UpSmash in the Game & decent chain grab & stellar edge guarding abilities & good recovery. He's just very light

& if you know how to use the self damaging moves (like I do) she (its a girl my mistake) can be very dangerous

It's hated because A. It's a clone, one of the most despised character types in fighting games because they apparently represent the absence of creativity. B. It was made to sell Pikachu merchandise and has no reason to be in Smash other than to sell toys and clothes. C. The self damage that makes it hard to use due to it being easy to KO. And D. He brings nothing worthy to Smash.

absent of creati - what ? how ? he's the most unique clone in Smash period. & do you really think pokemon toys wouldn't sell like hot cakes regardless if Pichu was in Smash or not ? i agree that more newer pokemon should be added, but Pichu needs to come back too.

I think the next Pokemon reps in Smash 5 should be: Pikachu Jigglypuff Sneasel Blaziken Lucario Zoroark Greninja Decidueye

Pichu was originally meant as a handicap character. One for someone who had played the game for hours to use when playing against new players. But when really good players use him he is actually very powerful. Although yes he does hurt himself he actually has some very strong moves. And in fact he is the strongest light weight character. His up smash rivals Fox's. Pichu should return.

I'm dumbfounded. I keep hearing Pichu's the most hated character in Smash, yet everyone I talk to act like he's better than everyone. I'm honestly confused. WHY IS PICHU POPULAR?

My viewpoint on this is simple. Every character who has been in a previous Smash game deserves a shot at being in a future entry in the series. I don't have any strong feelings about Pichu positively and negatively.

How is Pichu the most unique clone? He has the exact same moves as Pikachu but is weaker and causes self-damage. Marth/Roy, Fox/Falco, Captain Falcon/Ganondorf, Ness/Lucas and technically Mario/Luigi, every clone in that list is more unique than Pichu.
