Question about levelling up

Hey XCX experts, I'm wondering how the level-up stat boosts work. When your character levels up, do the stat boosts they recieve depend on things like your current class, equipped gear, current skills or arts, etc? Is there any RNG involved that allows one player's level 50 boosts to be worse than someone else's? Thanks!

  • As far as I know, there is no RNG. Apart from Drifter, which is the base class to compare stats, classes just modify stat by a percentage from the base. Gear and Additional Effects are completely separate. RNG causes too much angst. Ask any long time farmer and you will know why.

  • Oh, I know. I play virtual console fire emblem and golden sun here on the Wii U. I know the suffering of RNG-based level ups haha. So, you're saying that the stat bonuses you get from levelling up are applied to your "base stats" which are then modified by class, etc. But what about the bonuses themselves? Can they be bigger or smaller for any reason or are they the same for every player?

  • Same. No RNG = No bonus stats.

  • Well, whatever you want to call them. The stat increases you get when you level up.

  • Any player in the same level and the same class will have the same base stats. Then it is modified by gear, traits, skills etc.

  • So, to check my base stats, what do I do? Switch to drifter class and unequip all weapons, armor, and skills?

  • Switch to any class and unequip everything + all skills, also you will be seeing the level 60 base stats in this case

  • But classes modify the base stats as well.

  • Yes, you will be seeing the 60 base stats of whatever class you are in

  • Ah. And are those always the same for every player? For example, if you and I both switched to Mastermind, for example, and unequipped all of our gear and skills, would we have the same stats? Or can the base stats vary from player to player?

  • They would be the same

  • Sweet. Those are your LV 60 base mastermind stats? I'll check mine next time I'm on the game. I really appreciate when RPGs do it this way. In some RPGs you can get better or worse level ups depending on things like class (Final Fantasy series) or RNG (bajillions of RPGs) and I find that rather irritating.

  • Those are mastermind 60 base stats yes. I could tell you the same for any class, or any party member (Elma base potential is also 102 for some reason). Its the same for every player.
