Fun fact #4

In Brawl the Pokemon Trainer had a stamina system and a type effectiveness system. Every Pokemon had stamina and for every second they were out they lost 1 stamina and for every attack they lost 1 stamina. When they ran out of stamina they'd lean over and breath heavily. This caused their attacks to be weaker and have less knockback. This reduced knockback could be used for combos.

  • And the type effectiveness system. If the Pokemon was strong against a type they'd take .9 times damage and knockback from the move. And if they wre weak to the type they'd take 1.1 times damage and knockback. This system gave Ivysaur a major disadvantage as ovef half of Brawl's roster has some sort of fire move. From Link's Bombs or Olimar's Red Pikmin to Bowser's Fire Breath or Mario's Fireball.

so the type effectiveness worked only for knockback ... but not for damage ?... yeah, that makes alot of sense. i feel bad for Ivysaur tho cuz 90% of the attacks in brawl were fire based with only 1 water move, man Ivy can't catch a break

  • I have no idea. Sadly it made Ivysaur's weight a joke. He is heavier than Squirtle but got taken out far quicker in most matchups due to fire attacks.

so did it apply to electricity & ice attacks like Falcons Knee or Lucas' PK Freeze ?

  • Depending on the Pokemon yes it would. Squirtle would take extra damage and knockback from electric attacks but reduced damage and knockback from fkre attacks.
