    Snake: Colonel, what's with that...uh...baby Pikachu? Colonel: That's Pichu. Snake: Pichu? Hm...for a little Pokémon, it also has a little name. Colonel: Pichu is Pikachu's pre-evolved form. That means that one day, it will evolve into a Pikachu. For now, it's a baby Pokémon.

    Snake: That doesn't sound right for someone to fight before they're ready. Colonel: Sometimes, the Pichu may damage itself. Snake: A fighter that damages itself? Sounds deadly. Colonel: Well, Pichu can't control the way it handles electricity, until it evolves into Pikachu. That's why it hurts itself when doing electrical attacksomeone, but it won't stop Pichu from fighting opponents.

    Snake: So, I'm fighting something that can hurt itself while it tries to attack something or someone else at the same time? That Pokémon has a weird fighting strategy. Colonel: I wouldn't worry too much about Pichu, Snake. After all, many consider this fighter to be the weakest of all.

    This is pretty true. Pichu is the first fighter of the series to have glass cannon functions within its moveset.
