I think Microsoft should go third party. They don't really seem to care about exclusively since Minecraft is practically on every console that exists and a lot of Xbox One "exclusive" games are on PC. They would likely benefit a lot more with Halo and Gears on Playstation and games like Banjo and Conker could return to Nintendo platforms.
