Is Super Mario Odyssey's not having a hub world or life system bothersome in any way?

It isn't to me.

Nope, you just travel on the hat ship called the Odyssey. Whatever kingdom you left off in, you begin in when you start the game.

  • Nope not for me, as long it's fun that's all it needs to be for me.

I'm slightly disappointed in the lack of a hub world, but it's not a big deal at all. Super Mario Galaxy 2 didn't have a true hub world and it's my favorite game of all time. Lives have become completely irrelevant in modern games, so removing them was a a smart move. It's gonna be a little weird playing a Mario game without all those little green mushrooms, though.

might be a little strange not having a hub, i always did like having somewhere safe where i can just move around and have fun. but a sufficiently easy early level can suffice.

  • I could care less about hub worlds. As for no lives system. Uh what? What is a Mario platformer without extra lives?

  • The no hub world thing, I couldn't care much less about. But I'm not the biggest fan of how the game seems to deal with dying. The punishments looks to be nothing more than a light slap on the wrist, and since it's so light there's almost no reason to try to get better when winging it and hoping it works can produce the same results with few drawbacks.

  • no hub world isn't a problem but if there's no extra lives than there's gonna be some other penalty for getting hit
