  • Let me get the negatives out of the way. It was mildly disappointing that there weren’t any new game reveals like last time. All of the games featured were ones that we already knew about. In addition, some of the titles used in the stages were a bit... questionable, to say the least. A couple Wii U games (Smash, Mario Maker), Bird & Beans, and Mario Party 2. Like, what?

  • Also, I was honestly expecting that they would use the likes of Rocket League or even Star Fox 2. Especially the former, since a playable demo was at Nintendo NY and we’re so close to the holiday season, but we still haven’t gotten a release date yet.

  • Now on the the positives! Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Tetris, and even SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY, were featured there! Some of the competitors, such as Asa Butterfield (star of Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo”) and John Numbers (2015 NWC Champion), gave amazing performances!

  • On a side note, however, I wasn’t too fond of how Disney XD handled the broadcast. Every now and then, even in the middle of a round, they would all of a sudden cut to commercial. Sometimes they show the gameplay on the side during commercials, and sometimes they don’t. It was inconvenient and I had to switch (*rimshot*) to the livestream on my phone to make sure that I didn’t miss anything big.

  • All in all, this tournament was good, but it wasn’t the best in my opinion. What did you guys think?

  • I like the splatoon 2 tournament part.
