Online could use some work...

I've put hundreds of hours into this game, I'm no M2king or Zero, heck I'm not even great at the advanced stuff, but I've played enough of this and other fighters to know online needs some work. I mean I'd like to know my opponent's connection at least! And ranked FG matches would be a God send. Not to mention better, more consistent netcode.

  • I mean really some matches I get have crazy input lag, then others just keep freezing, maybe a roll back netcode or something would be the way to go? I believe that's what Mahvel infinite runs on and I hear it's online is great!

  • Ranked For Glory matches are already in the game. The game tries to make fight against other players that have around the same win rate as you, but as you can see, it wasn't implemented very well.

  • As far as the Wi-Fi issue, you really can't do anything about it. Some people like to use potato Wi-Fi.

  • Win rate is the worst way to rank players why they do dat? Then I know I can't do anything, just kinda felt like talking about it tho. I mean really, Roll back netcode + letting you see the opponent's connection would fix almost everything wrong with the actual online matches

  • Smash has always had a problem with lag, it depends on your connection and the opponents. I also think 1vs1 should be remove for the Switch version, too much salt. Not a lot of smashers have good sportsmanship.

  • Nah, 1v1 is fine in and of itself, and it doesn't hurt to have the option, very easily ignored. Salt exists in any competitive game be it Tekken, Mario Kart, Overwatch, Chess, Yu-Gi-Oh, Tennis, Football, Pokèmon, Puzzle Fighter, Uno, Mario Party, Street Fighter, Monopoly, or even Smash. It's just inherent in the genre, removing 1v1 will only make it stronger and/or kill online.

  • I guess, but people seems to be affect with salt in a game like Smash. But I see your point.

  • Smash does have alot of salt, but that's because people are creative in dissing other players. Other games can get that level though, KnuckleDu in Street Fighter V comes to mind. His rapid T-bagging has become a staple of his playstyle after his victory in the last Capcom Cup.

And instant bans on spammers, trolls, smug players and especially taunt partyers, they're the worse.
