Hmm. I made a bit of a problem for myself. I changed the Switch language so I could read and play Breath of the Wild in Japanese. But what about other gamesI'll get? I don't know, am I playing Mario in English or Japanese? Super Mario Odyssey or スーパーマリオオデッセイ? I didn't think this through very well when I got the Switch...

Well, I know that for Splatoon 2, the game itself is locked to the region it's from, regardless of what your Switch is set to. Now that might be because it's a game that mainly focuses on online play or something like that.

  • Good question..

  • Hmm... Is this a problem, or an opportunity? The way I see it, you have more options. Whatever you do, do it well.

  • A problem out of indecisiveness. Exciting, however.

  • Speaking of changing the language, I think I've heard that the Switch is supposedly not region locked. If that's true, would it be possible to buy a game when it releases in Japan and then change it to English once it releases in North America?

  • I think it would be less trouble for me personally to wait for a given game to be released in North America anyway (especially since it's cheaper to rent and then buy from Gamefly ;)) but I am kind of curious if that would work.

  • No region lock. I have an American BotW and Switch and yet am playing in Japanese.

    Yeahs2
  • I changed the settings of both BotW and the Switch after playing for some time. I have a Japanese and an English account. Should be no problem.

    Yeahs1
  • Can you not just change it back to English? I haven't looked around in the settings all that much, so I don't really know.

  • I can; I'm just trying to fogure out what I want to do. I didn't really plan this beyond just one game, so now with every Switch game I get comes the question of which language shall I use.
