That's not to say that the song is the only good thing about the game... It is probably the best song to put as your alarm in the morning. It gives the motivation to press on until the your situation changes.

Here are some other thoughts: I love it when games push their characters to the point where they begin to question all of their life choices as the approach insanity. FFVI was a masterpiece because of this. You really get to know a character when you see them pushed to their limit. Celes, when pushed to her limit, gave up. Cyan went insane. Locke ran away. Make things right. Strago did something dumb. Terra found a place where she belonged. All of the characters have a story like this. FFIX does not do this as well as FFVI did, but it does it does it better than any game I've played besides FFVI. ...Maybe. I'm kind of just wanting to finish the game. You probably disagree, but I find that FF games lose their momentum towards the end of the game. That's why I have yet to fight FFIV's superboss, even though I just need to walk to him. I barely summoned the will to finish off Zemus.

I do love that song (Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is the culprit here), but it wasn’t the one I was thinking of. Roses of May/Something to Protect are what I was thinking of (Beatrice’s theme, essentially).
