Toon Link style?

Did you know that Twilight Princess was originally going to be in Toon Link style? Apparently someone at Nintendo of America complained a lot and they created a different style for it. I would have preferred to say it in that style because its my favorite. I wanna know what you think.

  • I think going with the more realistic art style was the right move. Although the backlash from The Wind Waker's art style had died down by that point, it's hard to blame Nintendo for not wanting to deal with that again. Plus, it's nice to have a little variety. Even though it hasn't aged as well, TP's art style is a nice contrast to TWW's.

  • Deal with it? No offense, but you make it sound like Toon Link is a disgrace.

  • Excuse me? Did you actually read what I said? I have no idea how you managed to twist my words around that much.

  • You don't have to be rude about it.

  • I've always thought it would cool to be be able to see a game in a different style than its own. It's why I wish Nintendo would remake a 2D title in 3D.

  • You just called ME rude? There's some irony.

  • Calm down, you two. It was just a misunderstanding of words. Nothing to get into a fight over.

  • Kyle, BCH was only pointing out that, at the time, it would've been unwise for Nintendo to release Twilight Princess with an artstyle that their last game had been criticized heavily for using. He wasn't saying he thought the artstyle, or Toon Link himself, was a disgrace. And BCH, I think Kyle may've just misunderstood what your first comment meant. He certainly didn't intend to be rude.

  • Maybe you weren't aware of it, Kyle, but there was a HUGE backlash against the artstyle The Wind Waker used long after it came out. And Twilight Princess was in fact designed as an homage to Ocarina of Time after the changes The Wind Waker had made. Most people nowadays tend to accept and enjoy the game for what it is, but it wasn't always like that.

  • I got the Wind Waker 9 years after it actually came out. I had no idea that it got so much backlash back then. Thanks for telling me.

  • So just to recap: You ask for people's opinions, I give my opinion, you misinterpret and attack my opinion, then you accuse me of being rude and block me when I defend myself. This is why I hate the Internet sometimes. I don't know why I bother.

  • Key word in my second post, NO OFFENSE, but you took offense anyway. So YOU'RE in the wrong. (Sorry about this, Ursa.)
