  • Seeing as how you cannot buy Wii/Nintendo Points cards anymore, the only way to add points now to your Wii Shop Channel account is via a credit card or debit credit card or some of those gift credit cards you can buy. I know there are still a lot of games I want to buy for the Wii that I haven't been keeping up on over the years. I guess it's time to start looking through the catalogue again!

  • They are shutting down the 'WiiU' shop as well...? Yet they kept the old 'Wii' shop open for this long...? They truly seem to be doing their best to dissuade people from purchasing 'WiiU' consoles now that their precious 'Switch' is on the market.

  • will gamestop keep selling wii and wii u games?

    Yeahs0
  • @Potempkin - No, they are keeping the Nintendo e-Shop open on the Wii U but the closing of the Wii Shop Channel will affect the Wii Shop Channel on the Wii U as well.

    Yeahs0
  • Gamestop/EB Games has already stopped accepting Wii games for trade-ins but if they still have Wii or Wii U games in stock they will continue to sell them until their inventory is gone.

    Yeahs0
  • soon there will be no use for nintendo consoles because the only thing available will be the disc channel, unless nintendo takes that away too, then people will demand refunds, and everything will be a mess...

    Yeahs1
  • if they shut down eshop then nintendo will probably have to shut down entirely...

    Yeahs1
  • @nicholai Uhh Nintendo isn't even shutting down any time soon and there's no way that the eShop will be shutting down either because the 3DS family of systems is still being supported. The eShop has to stay open because of the 3DS games.

  • The Wii U & 3DS e-Shop is good for quite awhile. We have to worry about multiplayer servers going down next though.
