i really don't get why patriotism is seen as some revered trait like at all if you're proud of where you're from or something i guess that's alright, it's harmless but i wouldn't call being loyal to the landmass you happen to reside on a quality of remote importance or meaning

    it isn't exactly helping anybody to be that; fighting to defend your country isn't good because it's "patriotic", it's good because it's helping people and keeping them safe, even at your own risk it isn't good because you're "fighting for your country", it's good because you're "fighting to protect innocents" there's a big difference in value there
