~Fala~JadesFire97

The only thing I don't like about the new Genealogy characters in heroes is how the Crusaders' names have just been absolutely ruined. I mean really, "Thrud" instead of "Tordo?" And I'm apparently "Fjalar" now because obviously "Fala" sounds too strange. :|

  • Or maybe the fan translations were wrong.

  • Actually the fan translation are closer to the original katakana. And let's not forget that the Crusdaer chart has their names in English and it's very clearly "Fala" "Tordo" "Odo" and "Baldo". I get the feeling you've never played FE4

  • No, I haven't played an unofficial translation of a game that's not available in my region.

  • Thrud, literally Old Norse for "Strength", is the daughter of Sif and Thor. I can't seem to find anything on Fjala. (Seriously, nothing.)

  • Ah. I found my problem. I left off the "r". xD Apparently, along with his brother, Galar, these dwarves killed Kvasir and turned his blood into the mead of poetry. They appear in Skáldskaparmál.

  • Ah, I figured they would probably be closer to their Norse origins but I've used the other names for long the new just sound so... strange.

  • It is kind of biased to just always choose fan translations over official ones. How do we know they've been done accurately?

  • Well for names it's very easy to check actually you just read the original katakana (which isn't hard to do even if you dont know any Japanese like me) Since I have both the English reproduction and original Japanese versions of FE4 and 3, I've been doing some name comparisons myself. Dialogue and such is a bit harder as you might expect because Japanese doesn't follow the same rules as English
