    Oh, I replied to your 2nd post first, sorry about that. This is purely a puzzle game! But the Professor doesn't explain it very well. You need to create a picture by filling in certain squares on a grid. The numbers otside the grid tell you how many squares need to be filled in each row and column… It's up to you to figure out WHICH ONES!

    Here's an example of a completed 10x10 puzzle. You can see the bottom row has the number 10, so all of its squares get filled. Right above that, on the 9th row, and also on the 4th row, the numbers are "1 1 1 1". That means there are four separate, single fills, each with at least one blank square between them. You can also put an X on any square that you can confirm will NOT be filled.

    Anyway, it's the kind of puzzle that you can't solve all at once. You can figure out a little bit in one spot, then that will help you figure out another spot, and so on. There are lots of little tricks for solving. If you check the Discussion section, I actually wrote a bunch of tutorials that teach them. And of course, each Poké you catch (by solving a puzzle) can give you hints on others!
