    dig/blast out a big area or path for you to use to constantly evade plantera. I've defeated this guy with shadowflame throwing knives (1.3 "melee" weapon dropped from hardmode goblin invasion boss) and melee chlorophyte armor.

    Terra Blade is probably a good choice, since it was one of the nigh-unbeatable tank weapons back in 1.2, and in 1.3 it cannot be forged until after defeating Plantera in order to enable Mothulas spawning in the solar eclipse.

    yeah, that's how 1.2 goes. In 1.3, only Mothula (or is it Mothron? I forget) drops broken hero swords, and supposedly at a 25% or 50% drop rate (though I have had one world where my friend and I got about a 10 no-drop streak).
