    They're most likely the ones who give the companies the greatest amount of money for games, merchandise, and other items, so I do think they're beneficial to the industry.

    @Mr. Monkey, i agree, and another thing, who hasn't been a FANBOY at least ones in their life? Because i know for a fact that i have acted like a fanboy in several occasions! Critics like to pick on fanboys but fanboys are detrimental to this industry!! Fanboys keep gaming alive with their support!!

    Fanboy is just a nickname for a dedicated customer. I buy strictly Nintendo consoles. I'm not rich so I invest my dollar on one console n many games. I have ten to twelve games for my Wii U. 60 bucks a game...so yeah I'm investing in a company. Nintendo has the games I want to play. If I could invest hundreds of dollars in another console I'd choose PS4. But I can think of 10 games I want.

    Depends on the level of it really, the more hardcore vocal minority that bash things for no good reason to 'defend' a company/game are absolutely bad for the industry and can put off potential new customers. Seeing a particularly toxic fanbase certainly makes me think twice, especially if it's a multiplayer focused game.

    I'm a video game fanboy & a console fanboy & some TV shows fanboy, some singers fanboy & some movies fanboy! Fanboys promote the game or console more than others & buy more stuff related to it plus can also convince others to do too. I see nothing wrong with fanboys themselves but depending on how they argue their love for the game or console can sometimes be a problem!
