    There must be a better way... but this is how I beat that boss on single mode. I used the boomerang. I firstly threw the boomerang to one of the sides, holding it in place, and try to lure the monster to turn and have it's tail between me and the boomerang. Then I retract my boomerang and try to hit it's tail along the way back. Running in a circle kinda helped.

    What I did was use the two Links on opposite ends of the stage. When Moldorm is coming toward you, switch to the other Link. Then as soon as Moldorm turns around, switch back to the original Link, and follow it. You should be able to hit the tail before it goes all the way across the stage.

    If you throw a link on the left or right platform, you can get hearts, and I just switched links really fast.
