    And I was starting the torture of hatching Mareep eggs. I was primarily hoping for a modest natured one, but anything will attack decreased would have been ok. I was nearly passed out from sleepiness, until one of the Mareeps I hatched didn't look right through my drowsy eyes, and sure enough it was a shiny! A very cool surprise, but like most shinies I've caught, I assumed it would have aBadNatur

    So I was expecting to just throw it in a box and transfer it to Sun later, but it turned out to be modest natured (the first I was able to hatch)!!! And appeared to have better Ivs compared to the other Mareep I'd hatched!!!! So this pink fluff ball was definitely going on my team! Also very surprisingly pokemon still have their shiny coloration when following you in SoulSilver.

    Also also, quick update on my progress. I've got 7 gym badges, accidentally skipped over the 6th one for a while. Gyms are a decent challenge without evolved pokemon...but still not very hard. I've now “unlocked” all the members of the team I set up too.

    Yeah, I thought it might be an interesting way to make the game more difficult without being annoying in some way. Though it hasn't been too much harder, even if the opponent is evolved and around the same level I can still defeat them in the end.

    However there's probably a couple factors that I oversaw that make it easier. 1 Pokemon that you trade gain more experience, 2 unevolved pokemon gain more experience than evolved ones, 3 my team is too well balanced in type advantages, and 4 giving them useful natures. I'm still having fun though.
