Man, I can't believe I'm saying this but I feel like I'm in the endgame of my Gamecube collecting career. It's so weird because I've been building my stack of Gamecube games for just over half a decade and now it feels like the finish line is in sight. It's a bit worrying because just I've been doing this one hobby for so long and pretty soon I'm gonna have nowhere left to go with it.

  • I mean to be completely honest I've dedicated so much time to collecting games that I've totally forgotten what it's like to just sit down and be able to focus on one single game start to finish without picking something else up. When I played Mario Galaxy 2 for the first time when I was 11 I didn't want to play anything else and it took me just a week to see the credits roll.

  • Similarly, I spent the entirety of grade 8 just playing Pokemon Emerald and level grinding in general (which didn't do me much good since I was emulating it and all my Pokemon ended up getting deleted anyway, but that's beside the point).

  • Fast forward to our most recent Christmas, where I received Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Pokemon Sun. In the course of almost a year I still havent gotten the second badge in Pokemon Sun and my total play time in Mirage Sessions definitely totals to below 5 minutes (an amount of time I am reluctant to even bother to mention).

  • I suppose once I slide that last game on the shelf... what happens then? Is this gaping void going to suddenly open up in my life where Gamecube collecting once belonged? This is such a turbulent time for me!

  • I'm already working out some plans to buy Path of Radiance and Twin Snakes, once I have those, those are probably the last heavy hitting titles I need to add to my collection, everything else is just easy to find, cheapish to buy, it's happening so fast!!!
