Top 5 LIKELY Newcomers
This is the first of a 3 Part list of characters for the next Smash Bros. This list will focus on characters that will likely become playable. Keep in mind that likely does not mean guaranteed, so if the next Smash launches without any of these characters, don't hold it against me. Counting upwards. Let's get started.

The only reason Alm is only #5 is because the next Smash Bros will likely not release until after the next Fire Emblem releases for Switch next year. When that happens, Sakurai will likely take the main character from that game. Currently though, Echoes is the most recent.

Klonoa? I mean the games are now being developed by Namco, right?

4. ARMS Fighter Nintendo has a habit of adding characters from big hits, such as Shulk being added Smash 4. Although not as big of a hit as a certain other new IP, ARMS did take off pretty well. It wouldn't be hard to imagine that one of the dozen fighters could make it into the next Smash with a focus on spacing and long-range.

The problem, and one of the reasons it's only #4, is which one would be added. Spring Man and Ribbon Girl are the two that players usually associate with ARMS, but Min Min and Ninjara are especially popular. If I were to make a guess, it would be Min Min, both because of popularity and because of diversity due to her willingness to use kicks in addition to punches.

3. Dixie Kong - Donkey Kong Dixie Kong is on this list for one reason, and one reason only: her data was found in Brawl's coding. In other words, she was a character that was planned to be in Smash and was dropped, likely due to time constraints. In other words, it's now simply a matter of the developers getting the interest to reattempt to bring her into the series.

As you can probably guess, Dixie is #3 because she wasn't included in Smash 4. This doesn't mean her chances of being added are gone completely, but it does mean that they are diminished.

2. Decidueye - Pokémon Of the new Pokémon introduced in Generation VII, Decidueye is the one that's been pushed the most. In addition to being one of the more popular Starters from the Generation, just like Charizard from Gen I and Greninja from Gen VI, he has the distinction of being the first Gen VII Pokémon to appear in a major Spin-off: Pokken Tournament Deluxe.

The Dual Grass/Ghost Type has a number of sneaky tricks up it's sleeve, possibly using Spirit Shackle to temporarily pin a target down. The possibilities of what Decidueye could do in Smash would be pretty interesting. Why isn't he #1? I think most already know the answer.

1. Inkling - Splatoon Honestly, this should be a given. The massive popularity of Splatoon means that Nintendo is willing to push it further, and what better way to keep it up than to add the Inkling. Between the various weapons involved in the series, there is no way an interesting, original moveset could not be made for everyone's favorite Squid Kids.

That's why they're #1: because at this point everyone knows they're likely to be in the next Smash.

And that's it for this one. Tomorrow, I'll do my list of Top 5 Newcomers I WANT to see in the next Smash Bros. It'll also be the only list of the three that's biased. Go figure.

The inklings are pretty much a given at this point. Though I do wonder if they would consider adding Callie and Marie as alts. for them like the koopalings and Alph. The squid sisters are pretty popular, and I'm sure fans would want them in as playable.

Possibly. Of course, none of these characters are given. How long have we waited for Isaac to get in Smash again?

Far too long. The series has had a few songs in brawl and smash 4, so Nintendo clearly acknowledges its existence.

My guesses: 5. Fire Emblem Switch protagonist 4. Rex (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) 3. Gen. 8 Pokémon 2. Spring Man 1. Inkling These aren't newcomers, but Ice Climbers are another given, and Wolf seems likely to come back as well.

I've got two other lists I'm going to do over the next couple of days. Tomorrow, as stated, will be 5 Newcomers I want in the next Smash. The following day, 5 Newcomers I feel deserve to be in Smash.

But Echoes is a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden and Sakurai himself thinks FE has too many FE characters.
