Good night, Mira, home of glorious rings and weirdos that have played 800 hours on one save. Visit FN 311 for ... Roo: Not quite 800. ... dude, I'm tired tonight, so sleep tight.

L.O.: Ja ne, mysterious narrator. Pretty sure we logged a total of more then 1000 hours across accounts. Reki: Yeah, and you hit Level 60 and got 5 Phanatos holos before the 100th mark. L.O.: Eh. I still lack the flight module in my dimension. Reki: Even though you would probably plant all the Probes before getting the flight module? L.O.: Yes. Yes I would.

L.O.: On a serious note, before our mysterious narrator was interrupted by Roo, visit FN 311 for a fantastic view of the Oblivia desert. Make sure you travel along the river for a source of water. Reki: It's also for your own safety, least you get mauled by a Vigent. The rings of Oblivia? L.O.: Sorry, can't release those notes yet.

That...is crazy! And I thought my 200 hours was a lot. Did you ever get to 100% on all the areas?

I'm worried about the quality of the water based on how little vegetation there is along the banks... And, straight up I hit 100%, although as you may guess from the numbers it took me 13 months. 13 glorious months.

FE Warriors is good, but because I'm no FE fan (zero experience with the real franchise), it isn't lighting my lizard brain up. A character shows up and I sense I should be swooning. But no. Compare with Hyrule Warriors: Impa became playable and I screamed, yeaaaaas! I need to sink more time into it. Give me 10 more hours and I'll adore it.

December 1st. You could wake me from a dead sleep, ask me that question and I would be able to answer. Count down is still sketchy ... 34 days? I'm not hyped at all, nope. I have so many worries about the game -- fanservicey art and armor, playing a teen with a magic sword yet again, voice acting --- I'm going to play 200 hours on it, aren't I?

I don't think they would screw this thing up to badly. It has a large following and very important for Switch sales. It will be sails with waves of goodbye if they screw it up.

You can't underestimate a developer's potential to maim a franchise. Very doable, especially when they hope to ramp up their IP's popularity. Sometimes, they try to guess what makes it 'good,' and plenty often enough they guess incorrectly. Or they try to dumb it down to appeal to the masses. Or they release some kinda dookie, knowing it's dookie but also betting that nostalgia will prevail.

But, as a priest of the light, I hereby bless this new game. Artistic integrity, and not market forces, will prevail. Something like sanity will dawn upon the planet. We will wake up to a new dawn. Writers will use the same word both as a noun and a verb, and all will be well. And so it is.

Monolith Soft has given me strong female characters that take no guff in the past two games. Currently, the marketing for XC2 is showing a lot of female forms wearing dental floss and featuring jiggle physics. I'm counting on marketing being idiots and the game being good. Pretty please.

I am also willing to play a weak team to avoid characters that make my flesh crawl, given otherwise good game mechanics (I don't know the details, because I'm trying to go in blind, but people I trust say they are still good). With enough choice, we can all get the game we need, and no one goes hungry. Monolith does that really well.

You want pure, sweet characters? Got that. You want lords of snark? Got that. Everyone in swimsuits? Okay, if you insist. And Nopon, we get Nopon, I am all in for Nopon.

(Fairness insists that I mention: there has been other art not featuring dental floss. Fairness makes rants less fun. Boo.)

That's two things I don't get about Japanese games. First, the obsession with teen characters - Even when I was a kid dreaming of being a hero, I imagined myself as an adult. And now that I am an adult, I don't want to play as an overly emotional, sniveling 15 year old. Second, immersion breaking fan service. It's hard to take a story serious when the soldiers are lined up and the men are...

...in full body armor while the women are in Victoria Secret's spring collection. I'm not some kind of puritan, but I like the look of the characters to make sense in the context of the story.

I'm with you Fox. Bayonetta was silly and stylish and sharp, and the over-the-top look matched the story. That game hung together. But it's risky. There are times when the armour vs bikini dimorphism breaks my faith with a game. Sometimes I'm willing to do the mental work to ignore it because the game is so good (Xenoblade C), sometimes not (Stella Glow).

Eldest Child, speaking from the lofty position of an 11th grader, adds: NO ONE wants to be an angsty 15 year old. [FYI ... that would have been an entire year ago] I'm going to play this twice, 100%, aren't I?
