I don't think being familiar with a franchise should be a prerequisite to maining a character.

Sure, there'd be less Bayos, but Miiverse wouldn't have a friendly neighbourhood PAC-MEME. I haven't a single PAC-MAN game outside the Google Doodle. I picked up PAC because he clicked with me. If a fighter feels natural to control, that's a good enough reason to play them.

    I played Bayo a bit before I knew her games. Played them and started liking her even more. Same with Shulk.

    Well certain people such as myself like to have nostalgic attachments to the characters we play. Of coarse that only applies to some people. I mean the main intention of each Smash character was so that they can feel like they were pulled straight out of their respective game, & if you have a nostalgic connecttion to said game, depending on the player you are that's all the more reason to do that

    Although I understand what you said about PacMan because The main reason I main Zelda isn't because of my attachment to her more as her moveset fits me as a player

    Something is a bit odd since Bayonetta arrived. So far, people have talked more trash about her than Meta Knight, and boy, there was a landfill of talking about Meta Knight when he arrived. However, it started to empty a bit when SSB4 got more quirks and content.

    In Smash, to me, characters ARE their movesets. I don't like Jigglypuff, Roy, or Dr. Mario because I like their games, I like them because of their distinct playstyles.

    I have a confession to make. I actually played Robin and Palutena before playing their games (though in the former, buying Awakening was not in any way related to Smash, as I'd played FE before). Also just realized I've played more Pac Man games than you, Tait. Not just the arcade, like several more.
