  • Well, in Medieval times, 'alvin' had a root word (or sir name in this case), 'halkvail.' Slang use brought the root down to, 'halkin,' but the 'k' was less pronouced as the term spread in use. Other dialects utilized a 'v' sound in its place. It meant, roughly, 'not above reproach or reconcile.' So, yes, scorn in your usage works too!

  • So, over time, 'halkin,' or questioning someone's level of truthfulness, became 'alvin.' Pretty cool, huh!

  • Kryptonese uses a 118-letter alphabet (at least in out rough understanding of the language. Based on the scientists deciphering it, some have the letters numbering as low as 107, and as high as 134. In all of it, there us no pronunciation for the 'k' sound. So there isn't an available translation for, Halkvail ma boi!
