(Left Casara Geareder) My friend works at a game store and said simplistic games move shelves, and niche JRPGs only have 1 or 2 in stock, and gotta buy the rest online. It also pays to put your copies in stores, and niche games don't have that luxury. Sega had your best 2D games in the 90s. Look what happened. Your gaming success, depends on how many people buy your games.
