As much as I love Twilight princess, it has the most dull cast of characters in any game I've ever played, excluding every main Mario game. When the kids in Ordon get kidnapped, I don't save them because I want to: I save them because I have to. There are exceptions to this of course, like Colin.

    That game was a little too serious. Even the character designs themselves didn't seem to add much personality. I'm glad the following Zelda games fixed this, especially BotW. Comparing the personalities and designs of the Zora in TP to the Zora in BotW is like night and day (But to be fair, Mipha and Sidon raised the bar pretty high).

    It really was. I know that Nintendo wanted to make a more serious Zelda after the somewhat divisive wind waker, but 99% of the characters were just uninteresting. I don't care about Ilia, Malo, Talo, or any of them.

    I think the Zelda franchise would work best if it were designed like BotW and Odyssey. Start with (slightly) cartoony character designs and add as many realistic features as possible (realistic scales on Zora, feathers on Rito, great detail in the eyes, etc.)
