Today I finally had the chance to play Super Mario Odyssey since the place I'm currently working received a Switch to rent, I probably played around 15 or 20 min but it was awesome!, btw, some questions, can you make a password for your switch profile? also, can you transfer your profile from one switch to another? (mostly because, if I had the chance, I'm probably beating the game on that switch)

  • 1) I think you need an NN Account in order to make a password like the Wii U. 2) I don't think it's possible, I checked and I didn't see anything about “switching” accounts.

  • Couldn't you just transfer your saved game to a micro SD card and put that on another Switch?

  • I don't know how the Switch works - and I don't think that Nintendo likes this - but I know that on the 3DS, Save Data Backups are transferable via SD card. It's a somewhat complicated process but on the 3DS you can create a save data backup of a game that allows it, on one system, copy the file somewhere else, then create a save data backup on a second system, then power down the second system

  • ...then read the SD card of the second system on a computer. The save data backups should be of the same game but now if you delete the save data backup for that game (should be your most recent one) on the second SD card and replace it with the save data backup from the first system but rename it to the number/name that the backup on the second system had. That should let you transfer save data

  • even if it isn't clear where the game is saving data to. Obviously both systems have to actually own the game in order for this to work - it might only work with digital games too as it requires the data be saved to the SD card and not the cartridge (I don't know how the Switch handles this) This is also a good way to move your save data backups to a computer if you utilize such a feature often

  • ...allowing you to categorize them and declutter the otherwise linear list of backups (also to actually back them up. I don't know why they aren't less cryptically labeled for backups as I'd assume the whole point was to transfer them somewhere else. That's how everyone else backs up files in the computer world for a large number of reasons)

  • 1) Your Switch profile is connected to your Nintendo Network account, which requires you to enter your password when you first log in. 2) Yes. The option to transfer profiles was added in the 4.0.0 system update that was released almost 2 weeks ago.

  • Really? The Switch lets you login to your NNID on different systems? The 3DS and Wii U never let you do that... Hmm...

    Yeahs1
  • I don't think there is a password feature anymore but there is parental controls dunno if that helps at all but yeah xD as for transfer to a different console they recently added that in the new update so you are in luck there
