And I say yes. Casual play doesn't matter, but in tournament play, some fighters are just naturally better with movement and other tactics.

I’ll just start with this:My opinion is my opinion, you may not agree, but be civil about it. No. From my experience both playing and watching matches I’ve learned a lot of things about the games.Yes,I’ve looked over advanced tech. Yes,I’ve watched tournaments anywhere I could find them. No,I do not participate in them. Yes,I have attempted to learn combos for my group of mains. (Read on)

@Duke. People said that Pikachu was a counter to MK but Top Level Pikachu players [even esam who was the best pika in brawl] said that Pikachu is not a counter to MK

No,the tier system carries no influence over me. The purpose is to categorize each fighter, rank them according to how well they do and thus determine their placement overall in the game.(From best to worst) This can somewhat of a divisive subject, and we have three sides:Those for, against, and neutral. As much as it appears I’m not,I am neutral and don’t favor any side much. (Once again, read vv)

The answer is No. Any Character can be strong. You just need to know how to play him/her.

Observe the behavior of top tournament level players, with each revision of the list they change their mains.People always gravitate towards the highest ranked characters and treat the lowest ones like poison. This behavior is always prevalent in players looking to get into top level Smash. In Melee, players almost always used Fox,Falco,Sheik,Marth. They were the best in the game and system,so-

naturally people dropped their mains and switched to them. (Now for Brawl,I haven’t checked their list,so I lack information.) Here,we have a lot of people gravitating to Cloud and Bayonetta. Now this system ranks on representation and tournament results, and it depends on that.If people ditch most of the cast for S Tiers, then you’ll more or less cause the ranking of once high characters to -

plummet in effort to make room for the hundred other S players and their results. Hence an egregious lack of variety,as everyone mains the same character and uses the same combos and neutral.FG.for example is a bland place filled to the brim with pocket Clouds and Bayonetta mains using the same stereotypical combo.(For me at least)Very rarely do I get blessed with a change of pace with someone-

who isn’t trying to false ditto just to mock me. Actually,I’ve never seen another honest(as in someone maining them,a ‘real’ ditto)Robin,Bowser,Roy or Shulk. You could bash and tell me that isn’t a valid reason to say ‘no’ to a tier system, but people take it too seriously and let it change them.I’m never dropping someone just because they aren’t as good as the newest piece of FG candy. I’m not saying it needs to cease completely,I’m just tired of how people treat it and how bland it makes the casual and moderate play. The question becomes:’Why should I main ___ when I could score easy wins with ___?They’re the best anyway.’And people shouldn’t really ask that,if you’ve put effort into learning, don’t ditch them only to start over again.

@AutumnLeaf I couldnt agree more with everything you said. & I don't agree with the "tier lists don't apply if you play casually because I play Smash, VERY competitively & I main Zelda so thats a false argument if you asked me

What I don't like is toxic players who say my wins were free and fake because I main Sonic who is considered "braindead" and top tier. Not my fault that I love the character and no low tier fits my playstyle.

I may trigger a lot of people by saying this... low tiers aren't fun to play imo.

Technically, Tier Lists aren't designed to show who's the best character in the game. They're just to show where each character stands in the current metagame. I can personally adapt to any playstyle that fits my character. But I would be lying if I said I didn't at least pay attention to tier lists.
