Steven: (sitting on the couch with magazine) ...I wonder when we're off to our next mission? I haven't seen the gems in a while to.

Amber sat by the window. She quietly observed him. She hadn’t seen the gems either, but she was sure they would come. She sighed, looking at Steven.

Steven: (Squints looking at his counter) Hold on... (gets up and goes to the counter where there is a note) What is this? (The note reads, "Steven, we have gone on a mission. It's very important, we'll be back tomorrow. There's juice in the fridge. Bye. ~Love Garnet.) Wait what? Why did they go on a mission without me??? I've been training, why couldn't I come? (Looks at note) Where did they go?

Amber sighed. They left without him? That was disappointing. She didn’t know where they had gone either, so it’s not like she could watch them. But that was ok. Steven was entertaining. She laughed quietly.

Steven: ... (gets some orange juice from the fridge) Do they still think I'm not strong enough? That I'd just hold them back...? (Looks at his cup and takes a sip) Maybe I should train some more while they're gone? (Looks outside)

Amber frowned. She sighed. At least she would get to see him train! She walked to a different part of the porch, so he wouldn’t see her, and would walk right by her as he always did. She sat down, her head peeking around a corner.

“Hmm,” Amber said. Connie. She recognized her well, even though they had never met. It was weird that way. She knew who everyone in this town was, but none of them knew she existed. Only the gems had ever knew she had existed. And they thought she had di$d long ago. She peeked around the corner more.

She peeked around more, not really caring how visible she was. They wouldn’t spot her anyway. They never did.
