Why do people compare semiclones to the OG character?

Link: More power, deadlier traps Toon Link: Floatier, Lighter, Faster Lucas: Deadlier combo game, better recovery, defensive Ness: Stronger, Half grappler I could go on with other pairs. My point is is that these types of pairs shouldn't be compared. They have different strengths and weaknesses.

    I facepalm so hard when Ness and Lucas are compared. Lucas' moves are different and have different properties (also he uses pk love instead of pk rockin'). He is far from a watered down character.

    bottom line if 2 characters were designed to be similar to each other, people are gonna compare them by nature regardless if the play differently. if the attacks look the same with the same attributes & dynamic, people are gonna compared them because they were intended to be in comparison to each other

    I just don't understand why people would compare 2 characters with very different attributes and playstyles. The movesets may be similar but they function differently.

    I actually wouldn't consider Lucas a clone of Ness at all. Not even a semi clone. That would be ridiculous in my eyes. Same with Mario and Luigi. But try telling that to the cancerous community that houses smash 4, along with Melee eliteists.

    Tbh I dont understand why people compare Lucas and Ness. They maybe have 1 same moveset but the things is Ness is the more Brave one I guess though his defense is pretty low but Lucas has way more defense than Ness and can pull off some rigged skills in battle.
