Playing a game yourself can make it more fun than just watching someone online playing it badly or whatever. You might actually like the game more by having your own experiences with it, other than listening to what someone on the internet says about it.

And that's why I stay away from Mario Odyssey LP's. Because when I DO find something I really like in a game I haven't played before, the impact would be a lot bigger if it WASN'T ALREADY SPOILED IN THE THUMBNAIL OF THE VIDEO.
