Was this game nerfed?

I started this game on Normal mode thinking "I'll up it to Hero mode when I get to New Game+". I realized how ridiculously hard it is to die after you get two extra hearts. After Helmaroc King I switched it to Hero mode and the game is still no problem if you got health items and you watch yourself around enemies. Now I feel like I cheated the whole first half.

    If I was to guess I'd say they made Normal easier than the Gamecube version and Hero mode is just a little bit harder. Unless you're an absolute beginner or just want to chill through the game, don't be intimidated and pick Hero mode. One thing I didn't like about this Wii U generation was the way Nintendo tried to balance the skill floor and roof in games. Wasn't well done imo.

    Actually, I don't think there's any difference between the GameCube version and the remake, at least not in regard to damage output or difficulty.

    In terms of taking damage and recovering it, The Wind Waker does tend to be one of the easier games.

    Possibly, I was young when I played it, but I fell a couple of times that Link even made the expression of being hurt but I took no fall damage at all. That seemed odd.

    Yeah, that happens sometimes. If you fall from just the right height, Link makes the motion of getting hurt when he lands, but you won't take damage. It's perfectly normal and happens in both versions.
