    Ditto. The pairing was perfect for a comical scenario due Ruto's "charming" attitude. It's a shame they didn't exploited that potential... But actually BOTW yells this wasn't that crazy with the romantic background between Link and Mipha.

    Ehh...I can't say that I took it that seriously, mostly because it didn't seem like the game did, either. Ruto's infatuation with Link was good for a bit of a laugh, but it never seemed like anything more than that. Anyway, the background between Link and Mipha was a platonic one. They started out as friends when they were children. Ruto didn't even like Link until he saved her from Barinade.

    Indeed the intention in Oot was to put a comical situation, but as I said it had more potential for that purpose that wasn't used. And about Mipha, the game treat the situation pretty seriously, especially when it's said Link used to spend LONG time in Zora Domain and with Mipha. Furthermore, another Zora gal states in the past she competed with Mipha for him and wanted Link to make a final choice

    I think with that stuff it's hinted the preferences of botw Link about girls. Anyway, to everyone's dismay the only true "relationship" revealed in botw was between Link x Great Fairy[ies]. Lol!!!
