The 'Switch' is a hand-held 'wannabe'.

Like the Apple iPhones, the Nintendo Switch is factory sealed & you cannot change the rechargeable battery in it yourself so once battery life dies down or ends you will have to send it to Nintendo to get it changed & for a fee plus the cost of shipping the system to them & being without it during that timeframe! The price you have to pay in the long run on Nintendo's hybrid handheld/console! ♡♥

At least it's battery life is still better than my wiiu gamepad's battery. I haven't changed the battery since I got it in 2013 and it's battery life is around an hour and a half now.

Not a true hand-held. Maybe wait until their next console.

@Charlie - With a game like The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild being played on the Switch in handheld mode you will get 3 hours at best out of the Switch's battery. Lesser resource hogging games will extend the battery life per charge but 3 hours on average is what you get from the Wii U Gamepad as well with over time battery life dying down also! You can change the battery in the Gamepad!

Nintendo Switch is a handheld. So light, so small, and doesn't need to be connected to an other screen than it has in it, to be used. Just like the DSes. Right?

@Xman - True & that is when the battery is being used the most. When docked & using it on the TV, it is plugged in thus using the battery less.

@Potempkin - Actually it is, it is not a true console! :-)

A true hand-held's battery operates for the same length regardless of what title is used. This is a forced jump in technology before a true version could be produced at a marketable price. the '3DS' family of systems are true hand-helds, as underpowered and or outdated technologically they may be. The 'Switch' is a console, with a 'hand-held feature'.
