The name of the Verus Skell in Xenoblade Chronicles X is actually a mistranslation of "Wels," which is in turn a callback to... something in Xenogears, I don't remember what because I've never played the game and only briefly skimmed over the wiki.

    Weltall I haven't played Xenogears in ages (and never beat it) but as far as I remember it was a Gear that had a special power over other Gears It becomes the main character's Gear early in the game
