Ringside Inputs Question

I've played Megamix's version of Ringside a few times, and I've consistently noticed something odd: I keep almost missing the inputs for answering the reporter's questions because I'm too early. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Before you reply and say I'm bad at the game, I can get mostly Aces on the poses and "Whoa, you go, big guy!" inputs with no problem while following the exact same rhythm. It's only the responses to the questions that don't seem like they're correctly synced with the beat.

    Well, and this is a tip for any rhythm game, you're supposed to answer on a downbeat (I think), which is when your foot touches the ground while tapping to a beat. So, try to sync up when you press A to right when your foot touches the ground.
