Too Many FE characters?

Well, in my opinion, it's not that FE is overrated, it' more like poor planning. Marth and Ike were returners from Brawl, and Robin earned a spot as a result of Awakening's success. Lucina is basically an alternate who got her own slot, Roy was representing Melee, and Corrin was an ad. In the end, the plan was for 3 reps, it was lack of foresight that led to what happened.

  • Too many "Too many FE character?" posts?

  • The real problem for me with any FE character for that matter, is that they all feel the same to me. Say what you will, but in my opinion, they feel like a slightly different version of Marth. I might play as another FE character, but it's still just "another FE character.". Those are just my thoughts, though...

  • Just get over it, why are people still talking about this?

  • I like to think that if Smash were made by western developers, the roster would look RADICALLY different. There would probably be no Fire Emblem characters and more DK, Mario, and Sonic characters.

  • For the next game I'd deffo keep Marth, Ike and Robin (maybe Roy). Lucina should really just be an Alt. Definitely ditch Corrin.

  • For a new FE rep, I wanna see a new fighter with a unique weapon (Spear or staff user please). Hopefully, a new FE game offering said character will be released some time in the future (before the release of Smash 5)

  • If Smash were made by western developers, none of the characters/stages would be Nintendo related. It would be called "Fan Service: The Movie: The Game".

  • Eh, I decided to be serious now, but I kind of feel like every FE charaacter has a good reason to be in, If anything just add more reps in other areas to compensate!

  • Really though, Sakurai is just being true to the games. After all, in every Fire Emblem game, there's a lot of characters, but not much difference between them.

  • Why are people complaining about the amount of FE characters when there's even more Mario characters?

  • Please tell me you didn't just say "there's no differences between characters in the actual FE games". As the great King Dedede once said: "SURELY YOU JESTIN'!"

  • @Shawn That's from my personal experience with the franchise. That's right, I've actually played numerous FE games, and I see the same archetype used over and over again between each instalment. The hero is usually a swordsman of royal blood, and the conflict always revolves around warring kingdoms manipulated by some evil force.

  • I agree with you regarding that we need a lance dude and Ephraim and an axe guy like Hector in smash. I think Robin was a step in the right direction in terms of diversity, which is what I think really needs to be done.
