Match Analysis: Link vs Toon Link

This Match Up was requested by Jack. We got a battle of Links. Which Link is more Link than the other Link? Both are zoners but this feels like a Speed vs Power situation. Who do you think has the advantage in this match up and why? Let everyone know in the comments below. I personally feel that it's 50-50 on the surface but...what do I know?

    Can't Toon Link actually sneak with his shield up? Also, I thought Tink can even Link's raw power with speed up close. Though yeah, Tink is better at hit & run.

    I am a Link main and have taken on many Tinks the majority of whivh i have won. I say Link wins because theyre are pretty equal for everything so it comes down to who dies easiest and who can land that one strong killing blow easiest. Link can land that killing blow easiest because of his combo ability with grabs and projectiles at high damage. Tink dies easier as he is light and Link can kill

    Him from 70% or above sometimes even 60%. So we have to view it as a who lasts longer and who can get those strong attacks in more. Link with his spacial ability and better combo ability in the air especially with d air, and ability to strike hard when it matters and durability to survive at high damage, Link wins.

    thanks for doing my request, man! wow, this is impressive. i was curious what the differences were between link and tink, and now i know. pretty cool. based on all this, i'd agree with it being even.

    @Mikao yes he can, but for a character who must always be moving to avoid getting slaughtered, there's no point in being this slow. In fact I don't think I've ever seen a Tink use Hero's Shield, whereas I've seen a number of Links take advantage of his walk block. Incidentally, I made a slight error. Link's 2nd hit of F-Smash had it's KBG buffed slightly in 1.1.3 so it is technically stronger.

    @Dallas: I wouldn't say survivability alone would dictate the MU. It is harder for Link to get the finishing blow on Tink, because he's so tiny and fast. It's definitely something to consider though.

    Im aware its harder which is why i said if it comes down to Tink at high damage vs Link at high damage if Link can get one lucky shot or combo because his grabs and projectiles are great for high damage combos he can win easier compared to Tink who would take 3 moves to finish off Link. It is pretty equal and it is a tough matchup, i know survivability isnt everything but it makes a huge part

    A big misconception though, Tink doesn't lack strength. His Fsmash is very powerful, along with Fair and Uair (Which is impossible to airdodge the entire animation). As well as having 1 of the strongest backthrows in the game. Right below Ness's. Usmash can KO at around 130%, and isn't terribly laggy either. If they're both at high percent, they both can die easily.

    The problem is that Link's KO options are much more punishable. Meaning a mistake from him is more likely to end up in him dying than if Tink makes a mistake.

    Which is why I'm still convinced that it's an even MU. Link has a great deal of advantages over Tink. But Tink has the advantages that really matter in the long run. They counter each other very well.

    I know he has strength no doubt but like i said before Link can kill Tink around 70% so if Link is around the same he has breathing room since Tink cant kill him as easily from that percentage. If they are both over 100 it would be who hits who first with a killing blow. Tink is underrated imo he is very close to Link i just think Link has an advantage over strength high damage combo ability and

    aerials also becayse Link isnt crazy slow either he doesnt have a lot of end lag on most moves on some he has a lot. I also think its easier to arrow cancel and hookshot cancel easier with Link

    But good point Ados theyre are pretty equal imo i prefer Link and think he narrowly beats Tink but it really comes down to who can get the killing blow first

    Link is...pretty slow. Not crazy slow like Bowser or Charizard. But still slow. Very few of his attacks are safe on shield. He's also slow in terms of run speed.

    Slow yes but you have to know how to time, me being a Link main i do, other people im gonna assume they dont since he is slow i was meaning hes not Bowser Charizard slow so his lag isnt like that where its completely wide open
