Horror as a genre is full of many frightening faces. These can span across films and even video games over the years! Whether it's the Predator, Jason or Leatherface! But one name seems to be iconic on both platforms there: Freddy. Like Freddy Fazbear, the haunted animatronic of Freddy Fazbear Pizza, and Freddy Krueger, the Springwood Slasher! In a battle of the old vs the new, which (cont.)

  • actually capable of being killed, it's just a tad hard to do so. Freddy's skeleton at best is composed of titanium, which at the very least makes him hard to truly destroy. His fur costume wouldn't last the whole fight at all, but that's beside the point. Now for the things that give the fight a lean. For weapons/combat abilities, the both of them have incredibly different arsenals. Fazbear's

Of course his stealth and teleportation can allow a chance to get in there, but his Pizza Wheel, Mic Toss, long range lunges and hallucinations all work best from afar. On the other hand, however, Krueger has absolutely no problem getting right up in his

He has his fair share of projectiles too, but he has far more actual combat knowledge and loves to fight dirty. He also has a bigger overall arsenal, even if we count Nightmare Freddy's attack moves as added moves for Fazbear. Now with that outta the way, lets get to the meat of this fight. First thing's first,

  • (*Fazbear's endoskeleton(for a few comments ago)) we hafta acknowledge the elephant in the room: the Dream World. For most of Krueger's opponents, this is the absolute final destination of any conflict, as within it he is completely invincible and can warp reality to his liking. The question then becomes "Could he use this power against Fazbear?" Well, the answer is no, at least not to the

  • fullest extent. After Shao Kahn yanked him from the Dream World, Krueger gained a small chunk of dream power to use in reality, which can be really handy for mixing things up. However, for him to use all of his power, he needs to be in his opponent's dreams while they sleep. He is a Dream Demon after all. In Fazbear's case, this becomes not possible to really do. Not only does Fazbear not sleep,

He may be possessed by the soul of one of the missing children, but he doesn't have a brain. So Krueger is stuck having to fight in reality. Of course Fazbear can use mind tricks too, but apart from the physical impacts caused by Nightmare Freddy, those tactics are of no use when

  • against someone like Krueger. Now, since Fazbear can also amplify his stats using Birthday, it could potentially cause trouble for Krueger, but not a ton. You see, Krueger can gain strength from the souls of his victims. Considering Fazbear is pretty much explicitly soul-driven, whenever he grows in power, so can Krueger. Also, remember the whole long-range vs close combat thing from earlier?

  • Considering that Krueger has legitimate(solo) combat experience and knowledge at all puts him at a huge advantage. Not only has Fazbear almost exclusively fought in a group of four, but he relies on methods of combat that aren't truly comparable to actually close-up fighting. Yes, the Pizza Wheel, Mic Toss, Nightmare Freddy and his own physical status could put a hurting on Krueger, but it would

Even if we don't account for the possibility of him fighting against Sektor, Cyrax or Cyber Sub-Zero in the Mortal Kombat tournament, his telekinesis could already bend steel. And keep in mind that this titanium endoskelton isn't some solid

Point is that while both are more than capable of delaying their destruction, Krueger is able to naturally last far longer than Fazbear could hope too. Once the physical form is downed, Krueger just gets to add one more child's soul to his collection. It

  • @Tyler Freddy did win. Anyways, honestly surprised that Krueger's Dream World abilities didn't truly come into play, but the result remained unchanged whether or not he had it, so there's that.

  • Well, it would be different if I pit Freddy against, say, Springtrap,(wherein there is still an actual body being possessed inside the animatronic suit) but a soul doesn't necessarily equal a brain, especially when it doesn't sleep.

  • I knew Kruger was a shoe-in to win this bout. Besides, even if Fazbear did kill him, everyone knows he'll just come back in the sequel. You'd have about as much luck killing Kruger as you would killing Jason Vorhees or Michael Myers, all of which are next to impossible to finish off for keeps.
