Little pencil lines then soften them with the blur tool! Also using the spray can to do skin, it's hard for me to get softer shading without it, but for hair I always just do those lines in different shades and soften them one color at a time,I set it to where it doesn't pull so much. I try to save wip pics when I do things be I like to see how they get fleshed out lemme get my 3DS and post them

I pulled at the rough hair w the blur tool and spray painted the face/drew more lines over. I screwed up on layering on this one, I accidentally drew on the first layer :(

Honestly the paints are easier for me to work w sometimes than the markers once I got used to them. You can do it! You're already improving so much Sarah, I really do love seeing your works. Try to step out of comfort zones. Drawing your request is going to do that for me bc I think I'm horrible at monsters but I'm going to enjoy every frustrating minute of it!

love his eyes <3 I draw so out of order.. maybe I should try using the model outines with the joint circles like many others..XD Its weird but alot of the time, i start with the hair...LOL! most of the time, the head is first, though.and thats not really the issue with me! Its the purrportionsss! xD

I can't do that joint stuff I try and it messes me up more. That's something I need to work on bc when done correctly it helps a lot. There's no wrong way to start I don't think! As long as it gets you to the end :) I think I usually end up doing noses first or face shape, it's always different.

You have a really good point! You can only improve when ya leave the comfort zone! Ive been trying to draw hands recently for example ^^ Im really proud of the hand i drew in My matryoshka DAA pic. The arms are abit weird but...THAT HAND THOUGH. You best believe i nearly gave myself a hand cramp getting it right! xD I dont touch the paints btw...I should try though! looks so soft and nice!!!
